Dragon Storm game card by Susan Van Camp
The above item card can be downloaded by right-clicking on it and downloading. It is far too specialized for us to publish as a card, but your campaign may want to use it. This Armor is specifically for the Avatar Form. There is a different armor card for the Prime Avatar.

You can buy an Avatar Mousepad for your desk at Cafepress. You will find it on this page!
Kardeen strode down the wooded path with confidence. Great trees grew upwards towards the sky. They were strong healthy trees. He got a slight smirk as he noted one of the elves high in the trees signal to the village that he was approaching. It was a fine day. He knew that his Avatar shape would impress the locals, which was exactly what he wanted.

As he entered the clearing he saw that the elven villagers were climbing down from their tree houses. Some of the houses were grown directly into the oldest trees and he was surprised at the intiricate designs which had been added to the Headman's treehouse. He stopped and surveyed the growing crowd of kneeling elves. He waited until the Headman approached before he spoke.

"Ardeliene, I have come to you with a commission. I have need of two bushels of the rare Rytlyn Moss that grows in your forest. I will return in three weeks to pick up this offering to me."

Ardeliene spoke, but did not raise her eyes to meet the eyes of the God Creature that spoke to her. "MY Lord, it is our pleasure to satisfy your wish. I here and obey." She spoke the traditional response.

Having gotten the required response Kardeen scanned the elves and noticed that several of them did not look well to him. With a dramatic flourish of his hands and wings he cast a series of healing spells at the prone elves and spoke. "This is well. You shall be rewarded. For tonight I need use of your Home, a small feast, and the company of that woman." He ended pointing to a very comely elf woman. She was a little older than his normal choices, but something in the way she held herself appealed to Kardeen. Everything would go well tonight.

At sunrise Kardeen moved to the center of the clearing and breathed a blast of fire straight into the sky. The sound alerted the elves of his departure. Kardeen transformed himself into his great Red Dragon form and rose into the sky. As he left he knew that the elves would be gathering the moss he would need for potions, and that they would have it for him. He had also spotted a young elf he had not noticed before, maybe I'll see her next time.....

Mark's Commentary
Ancient Dragon's used many different rituals and methods to collect tribute from the mortals in their lands. The Avatar form was one of the forms that dragons used to communicate with the short lived mortals that infested the world.

The Great Flames, and the three barbarian clans that were their predessesors, were particularly haughty in their dealings with the mortals. As the example above illustrates they considered the mortals as little more than tools. This type of attitude contributed to the elven/dragon wars that occured throughout history.

The Avatar forms were seen as ritual forms. They were handy because the dragons still had their normal abilities, but they were also small enough to allow for council gatherings, and, of course, for impressing and communicating with mortals.

In the current world the Avatar forms have become a tool for the bloodkin in their war for survival against the Pylos Necromancers. It is particulaly useful to those shifter races which do not have native flying forms. Many warriors have developed combat tactics based on the forms attributes. The form itself reflects the shifter behind the form. It will use the colorations of the originators clan after a Bloodline is chosen and it's visage will show the bloodkins originating race so you can tell a Werewolf from a Unicorn etc.

Given the experience of hindsight I would drop the card point requirement for this form and drop the flight time. These things are just "rules" and they tend to get in the way when actually playing the game. These changes would make no difference in game play, but they would reduce rules question. At some point in time I will revise the card to say:

The Avatar form was a ceremonial form for dragons. This seven foot tall winged humanoid stands out in a crowd. Avatars may use weapons and speak, but may only wear Avatar armor. An Avatar may fly. May use their racial abilities that require they be "in form". Taint DEF: +8 Od

You will probably notice the Avatar Armor card on the left of this page. Enjoy! This could be a useful item to use with an Item Affinity Boon card....
