The Village of Tizgar, Extended Scene
by Mark Harmon

Dragon Storm Main Page

“The village if Tizgar Introduction:” by Mark Harmon

The village if Tizgar is an extended Dragon Storm Scene. I have given the outline of the village for the GM to hang adventures on. At the end of the description are some possible adventure scenes specifically for this village.

The Village of Tizgar:

The village lies in a stormland plains near the Zachtos Clanhold. The village is centered on an old Manilac Kingdom Tower. The tower is the home of the villages ruling wizard and holds the villages food stocks. There are about twenty family huts surrounding the tower as well as a partially built elethay temple and the one business in the village.

As the characters first approach the village they will notice that it is well kept and that the farmers are watchful of strangers, but friendly.

The Elethay Temple:

Just north of the central tower is where the villagers are building an elethay temple. The village has been growing from an influx of refugees from the Haskalad Empire. Most of these refugees have been guided here by Valarians and have taken to the worship of elethay in thanks for their new found freedom.

A temple priest by the name of Geusara is in residence. (Use the Mother White card + 35 card points for him.) The temple can provide up to 2D6 food to friendly Valarians when the GM deems appropriate.

Fringar's Tavern and Inn

Fringar is a human merchant. Room and Board here is 1 gp per night. He has only three rooms to rent. A night of cheap drinks costs 1 gp for ale. Other drinks cost more. Fringar is assisted by his younger brother Gerald, who waits the tables, and a local farm woman called Hynoria, who does the cooking.

Fringar also runs the general store from within the same building. One each of common items are available. Uncommon items are usually unavailable. Rare items are almost never available and Unique items can never be found here. Prices are at card prices. Food is 1/2 gp per ration. Fringar buys at half of the card price, if he has the money.

The Wizard Kalinkack's Tower

Kalinkack is an old human wizard. He rules the village fairly and can be ousted at the village yearly meeting. At these once a year meetings the villagers get to decide the general course the village will pursue. During the year it is up to Kalinkack to see to the details, and to make immediate decisions.

Kalinkack himself uses the human wizard card plus 30 card points. Among these Kalinkack always has History and Ancient Lore.

Once Valarians prove they are helpful to the village Kalinkack will be able to provide them with a common potion for each of their missions. Occasionally he will come up with an uncommon potion, but almost never a rare potion. Kalinkack can also use his knowledge of History and Ancient Lore to help Valarians.

Kalinkack has a Village Captain by the name of Hersad. She is quiet and efficient. (Use the Lian Loksay card). He has two human Fighters, a dwarf fighter and two elven fighters. That's it. They rarely go far from the village for fear of leaving it exposed.

The Village Gadfly, Arbinger

Arbinger is a village farmer with a charming way. When he sees new people arriving he takes it as his duty to meet them and try to help them while trying to get stories about the outside world. While Arbinger is a pest, he can also be a useful pest. He is rarely doing his farm work. When asked to do something, he will tell people that his wife, Mildred, will be upset, but what the heck.

Mildred owns the farm and is a well built, good looking middle aged woman. She is also head of the village militia. Use a Human Fighter with toughness for Mildred. Mildred always looks sternly at Arbinger, but she knows his skills. No one is quite sure what such a competent woman sees in Arbinger, and it is best if we don't discuss it here.

Possible Village Scenes:

These scenes are not necessarily true. They are just suggestions that we offer to the GM as possibilities.

1. A sneaky necromancer who calls herself Teristal has gotten her hooks into Fringar. Fringar has acquired a warp feature, fire breathing, and he is terrified. He does not know that Valarians can Purify his feature. Teristal teleports in to see Fringar and get information on what he knows. She uses wakana to attack and wear down Valarians before moving in herself to attack. Fringar would turn in the necro in a second if he knew that he would get help rather than killed.

2. A raucous group of orcs occasionally visit the village. They distress the villagers by stealing food and livestock. The villagers know the orcs are from the Zachtos Clanhold, so they put up with it and resent it. The characters need to find a way to keep their Orc allies from irritating friendly farmers.

3. Kalinkack has a brother who took up necromancy. He has snuck in and kidnapped his brother. His specialty is skeletons and zombies, which suddenly start molesting the village. The kidnapper must be discovered and Kalinkack saved.

4. The village is building an elethay temple, but they don't have a Temple Channel Stone. Can the characters get them one?
