Penglai Notes
    from Mark at the Clanhold.

The Penglai campaign resides on the world of Grandilar and shares much of the history of the Stormlands. Through the Penglai campaign notes you will learn that that campaign is seperated from the stormlands and does not share all of the attributes of the stormlands.

The reverse is not entirely true. When Penglai was seperated from the rest of Grandilar there were small enclaves, embassies, if you will, on the stormlands. While these Penglai were cut off from there native lands and believe it destroyed, they did not abandon there heritage. Some of the stormland Penglai shamans have had intermittent dreams that have contained spirit messages informing them of current ruler names and vague news of the lands. None of this can be proven, but it was enough to cause the stormland Penglai to create a couple of small secret enclaves on the stormlands.

Occassionally these Penglai survivors will venture forth from their enclaves and join the forces in the stormlands to fight the Necromancers and the Pylos. These Penglai share both there own heritage and the current history of the stormlands. While they are rare and unusual, they are not unknown to the stormland Valarians.

This means that the normal Grandilar campaigns may encounter yet another fragment of history through the Penglai survivors and add this to their campaigns. The stormlands is a melting pot of many strange and unusual variants from all sources.

The Penglai campaign itself is a seperate campaign and many of the normal stormlands characters and races are not available in those campaigns. This allows the Penglai campaign's inherrant special history to stand by itself. We suggest that if you want to explore the Penglai ideas that you make it a seperate campaign with seperate characters just for that campaign. Characters who start in a Penglai campaign should remain in those campaigns.

Guild games are a seperate matter as they are short-term action based mission driven adventures rather than extended campaigns in the traditional sense. Therefore it is acceptable for Penglai characters to join with their bloodkin and temporarily accept a guild mission at conventions. Having a seperate Guild campaign for the Penglai is possible and we are looking into the possibility. Pure Penglai campaigns may therefore have Guild characters within the campaigns that can play in open Guild games at conventions.

Whatever you do, enjoy the addition of these new concepts and ideas.
